The highly acclaimed 2015 Trakehner stallion licensing champion Perpignan Noir celebrated his debut at the 19th Trakehner Stallion Show in the Westfalian sport horse centre in Munster-Handorf on 11 February 2017. The black stallion shone in the show as an example of clear, modern breeding progress of the noble Trakehner sport horse with his exquisite genetics and type.

At the 2016 International Equitation Science Conference in Saumur, France, on 23 – 25 June 2016, researchers Doherty, Casey, McGreevy and Arkins presented their investigation into noseband tightness levels on competition horses. They measured noseband tightness in 750 horses competing in dressage, eventing and performance hunter classes internationally.

The 4-year old Stoneylea Welt Princess, the 5-year old HP Fresco, and the 6-year old River Park Luciana became the winners of the 2017 New Zealand Young Horse Championships held during the Nationals and Pacific League World Cup Final at the 2017 CDI-W Feilding on 1 – 4 February 2017. Stoneylea Welt Princess went on to win the champions of champions title in special young horse final.
